Dr. Sukhsimranjit Singh

Dr. Sukhsimranjit Singh is the Judge Danny Weinstein Managing Director of the Straus Institute for Dispute Resolution at Pepperdine University Caruso School of Law. As a Professor of Law and Practice, he directs the LL.M. programs and oversees the Institute’s global outreach, professional training, and academic curriculum. Dr. Singh’s expertise lies in cross-cultural dispute resolution, faith-based mediation, and innovative solutions for global conflicts using modern theories, science, and technology.

Dr. Singh is an accomplished international mediator with a record of resolving disputes worldwide, including in the United States, Canada, India, Japan, and New Zealand. He serves as the mediator for Willamette University’s Atkinson Graduate School of Management, handling organizational conflicts, and for the City of Beverly Hills, where he was nominated for the city’s annual Peace Award.

At Pepperdine, Dr. Singh teaches various dispute resolution subjects. He has also taught at USC School of Law, Willamette University, Hamline University, and in India at the National Law University, where he was appointed Honorary Professor of Law, and at Rajiv Gandhi National University of Law. In 2017, the Government of India honored him as a GIAN scholar for his contributions to dispute resolution education. His scholarly work is widely published, including his recent book, “Best Practices for Mediating Religious Conflicts,” published by the American Bar Association.

Dr. Singh has delivered keynotes, lectures, and training in more than 30 U.S. states and internationally in countries like Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, Denmark, Egypt, France, India, Japan, Kenya, Korea, New Zealand, Peru, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Spain, UAE, and the United Kingdom. His TEDx Talks on dispute resolution in relationships (“Negotiating for Love,” 2015) and professional identity (“Made in India,” 2018) have been well-received.

Dr. Singh earned his Bachelor of Law from the National Academy of Legal Studies and Research in India and clerked for the Chief Justice of India, Justice R.C. Lahoti. He holds an LL.M. in Dispute Resolution from the University of Missouri-Columbia and completed a post-graduate fellowship at Hamline University’s Dispute Resolution Institute. He received his doctorate from National Law University, Delhi, focusing on Indo-American perspectives on dispute resolution.

Dr. Singh is an Honorary Fellow at the International Academy of Mediators (IAM), Co-chair of a Committee for the American Bar Association’s (ABA) Section of Dispute Resolution, an Executive Committee Member for the American Association of Law Schools’ (AALS) Dispute Resolution Section, and an Executive Committee Member for the Pepperdine/Straus American Inns of Court for Dispute Resolution. He serves on advisory committees for Rajiv Gandhi National Law University and Punjab University and is a board member of the Weinstein International Foundation, affiliated with JAMS International.
